Whatever you do, dont tell him to go unless he has something close to a guaranteed job. Id actually go on monster.ca or something and look apply. Most likely you it will be hard to find a job through the internet. Canada is a place where nepotism runs rampant and jobs are pretty scarce. It would be a bad idea to jump on a plane and get there only to see there are no opportunities.

You are doing the right thing by gathering information first. Keep on doing it.

The winters in Calgary can get cold. I don't think most people form New Zealand realize how cold it gets. -30C weather can last about a month and you will be expected to work in -20C weather.

Don't assume you can just hop on a plane and land a job upon landing, you missed the boat on that era, the economy isn't what it was a few years ago.
