This one really bothers me. It isn't even a proper translation.
많이 드세요= "many" "eat" or "eat a lot"
Their usage is like a mother to a child, when the mother thinks the child is old enough to feed itself. |
Koreans are children (for all intents and purposes) until age 30. Some still live with money and daddy after that. There you go.
One thing that bugs me is that I've been really trying to correct the basics with my adult students and some of them are going along with it but others insist that they've already learnt it, therefore they don't need to practice. As far as I'm concerned, they may have learned it but they haven't mastered it so we're going to keep on drilling until they do.
When they get to a certain level and communicate most of what they want to communicate with ease, they see no reason to improve beyond that unless they're perfectionists. I'm not sure if this is a Korean thing or an everywhere thing. |

Indeed, as does a lot of my family of various generations.
Its the equivalent of "go ahead and get started, don't expect me to put it on your plate"

Why would it bother you? it's a common english phrase in some places.
we've got one guy complaining that they're not using culture to create an appropriate sentence and the other complaining they're not using a direct translation.
