This sends a strong message out that waving knives around on public transport in Canada is likely to get you shot. That's not a terrible message to send out, IMHO.


The real message is old but apparently needs to be repeated.
Cops are cowards.

Don't give them reasons to keep proving it.

Wow, that was fast. I heard that these investigations can take months (not least due to police non-cooperation with the SIU.) From what I can determine about the details of the shooting it came pretty close to a public execution. It seems the investigative body also concluded that the shooting(s) look very unorthodox and possibly criminal.

I will be following this case with interest. I respect police officers, and acknowledge that they often have a very difficult job. But they are not above the law, and cannot go about gunning down citizens who pose no immediate danger to anyone. That kid should be in a jail cell or a psychiatric ward, not a grave.
