Another thread falls into the same old same old pattern of sniping at each other. Instead of being snide to each other can people offer any help to the girl?

I live in Songpa and only know Itaewon a little and have never been to Hongdae so I am as much use as a chocolate teapot on this subject.

If you misunderstood my post, let me clarify.

My comments were not aimed at you. I was simply saying that I've met a lot of newbies here who on one hand will prattle on about how they've traveled so far to gain cultural insight and awareness and have no interest in socializing with folks from their own neck of the woods, and then on the other hand start asking for directions to Limelight after the novelty has worn off, usually about three weeks later.

That was my point. Nothing more, nothing less.

The quicker people realize that moving here is hard, and they will inevitably need companionship from like-minded people, the better.

I figure having a few foreigner friends (or at least one good one) is pretty much a necessity for most foreigners. Helps with the adjustment (which may not fully happen ever), guarantees fluent conversation, and helps keep some sanity intact. Also it helps to be understood, to have another understand your living situation.

Did anyone really come to Korea to avoid all foreigners and spend all their time with Koreans? Did you arrive clueless about the country and its language ( like most of us I assume)

and then just figure you'd have an easy time hanging out with Koreans who spoke good English?

Hi there

After reading all that has been posted, i`d like to clarify! I`ve been here already for about 2 weeks, and have been looking around on a weekend to places other than foreign hang outs, as it were! But, where I live, I would like to meet people to hang out with during the week and the odd weekends, just for conversation, etc etc. So far, have been to Itaewon, and Hongdai (?) and have taken up suggestions of other places, so thanks, and might see some of you on that night out. Cheers!

WEll, my suggestion would be to get involved with something- Korean lessons, or a healthclub or whatever- easiest way to meet people really.
