| Hi: I'm new to the forum. I teach two hours a day for two weeks in January, and then I'm off until the second week of February. |

Are those camp things mandatory for your job or by your own choice for overtime pay? |

Starting the 28th of this month I have 9 glorious weeks off; with no classes or attendance at school, before returning to NZ for good.
But to be honest classes have finished for me already. I've got a week of oral testing, a week of final exams and a week of students doing creativity classes, cleaning, half days and general time wasting. I've already cleaned out my desk and looking forward to the end. yay! |

I have no idea yet. It seems that most EPIK teachers get a good portion of February off. I hope it's the same for me.
Regarding overtime pay: My contract states in article 7 that I am not to receive any extra pay for classes conducted while school is in recess. Does anybody else have this in their contract? I signed the contract from abroad, not knowing what is the norm. I hope they don't pile all of the camps on me since they don't have to pay me any overtime. |

It's mandatory for me; but then again, I cannot complain too much. I do a one-week camp in the first week of January and that's it. I get paid my regular salary for ten hours of teaching. My contract finishes at the end of January, so I have February off with no pay unless I pick up some temporary gigs somewhere before I start my job in March at a new place.
I think my wife and I may be doing something either in Moo-joo or Jay-joo over Korean New Year's with another couple, but not sure yet. A little R&R is definitely in order. |

Yep, mandatory for me. Wouldn't do it if I didn't have to. I'm not that motivated by money. |

| Supposed to be doing two weeks. However no one (and I mean NO ONE) appears to have any idea of (a) when I start. (b) how long the days will be. (c) when it will finish. (d) if I get paid or not (the contract doesn't specifically mention this) All that they know is that it will be two weeks. Probably haven't started planning this yet. |

Pass. No idea until I am told. Although, I have already hatched my escape plan |
Do you care to share it with the rest of us? I will certainly be at my elementary school for winter camp, but I am open to suggestions about how to escape and get the rest of the time off. |
