| All of this is hyperbole- self promotion. Deep down they know it isn't reality, but they feel like if they promote it enough, then people will start to believe. That will help make it so. |
And how is this different from most of the businesses in the world?
And I find the Korean alphabet very rational myself.

A business or country will exaggerate a quality that it does actually possess. Korea is tauting qualities that it doesn`t even come close to possessing.
Hangeul is rational, but the claim is that it`s the "envy" of people around the world. Clearly it is not, as most people haven`t even heard of it. This is just another one of those empty claims that no one except Koreans actually care about. I love hangeul myself, but anyone who does not have a reason to use it is simply not going to know or care. And needing to talk about your alphabet, of all things, to nationalistically pump yourself up is a sure sign of desperation. It`s completely insignificant in terms of whether a country is a modern dynamic tourist and business hub. The English language and alphabet is a hopeless mess of multiple influences, yet we seem to do alright on the tourism and business front... |

Yes indeed.
If Hangeul and Kimchi are evidence of Korea's international acclaim, then I sympathize with any proponent of this view.
And I'm saying this to be kind, as Korea's number one fan!
Peeps, give it a freakin rest already. |
