No. The whole world watching your pilots botch a landing and miss the runway resulting in a burning aircraft on YouTube damaged your reputation.

Seriously. Imagine you're a potential Asiana customer - on the fence about buying a ticket. Which of the following would be more likely to influence you NOT to buy a ticket with the airline - A or B?

I do not think anyone is debating the negative impact of the crash Diver. Asiana will be hurt by this, no debate. This will likely fade with time (short term or mid term) but they will taker a hit.

Suing the station is a bad idea but it is corporate PR strategy 101.

Corporate PR Strategy 101 is to do something stupid? And judging by the feedback from the lawsuit - it was REALLY stupid.

I wonder if Asiana was similarly incensed over this gem - http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2013/07/10/Korean-Broadcaster-Says-It-Was-Lucky-No-Koreans-Killed-in-Asiana-Accident

I think they'll be hurt more by the lawsuit than the crash. Airlines get over crashes (look at American and Air France) - they might have more trouble getting past acting petty and mean-spirited (as well as possibly hypocritical) .

I find that corp strategy 101 is to divert attention from bad news as quickly as possible because frankly speaking the media and people tend to have the attention span of a fruit fly and the memory that goes with it when it comes to news.

As such, corporations seem to bank on that diversion and on the quickness with which events fade from the memory of consumers.

Not saying this is right by the way...

My bet: the lawsuit will be dropped or will be forgotten by the months end.

The comment by that idiotic Korean news anchor will also be forgotten faster than a fart in the wind. Tomorrow is a new news day...

I don't see how the TV station damaged Asiana's reputation by airing the fake names. I can see how the fake names hurt Asiana's feelings (if a corporation can have feelings).

If any reputation was damaged by the event, it was the TV station's. They are now a laughingstock for airing the obviously fake names. Too bad the station can't sue itself.

Why did my comments get deleted from this thread? If I didnt check back I wouldnt have known. I have been nothing but level headed here. Completely ridiculous to censor comments without any notice or warning.
