What's up with those vibrating belt exercise machines.
I've seen some really fat chicks using them - and all their fat was wobbling in the right places - but what exactly does the machine do?

Are they for toning - or to lose weight? I always thought you had to sweat to lose weight (I'm a long-time runner). What's the science behind the vibrating belt? Any info appreciated?

Hahaha.....Most people I see use them tend to just come off the bike or treadmill. A bit of a massage after a workout?? But I agree.....the fatter people do really like them!! So do the older people.

As for the science, I dunno?!?! You've got me.

one of my students told me it was to loosen up the muscles to prevent soreness.

that is so funny! i always wondered that myself...they were really popular at my old gym...especially with the women...who would do 5 mins of cardio...stand around talking to their friends for 20 minutes...use the belt thing for another 5 or 10 minutes then leave.....the gyms here are seriously a social gathering, i never saw anyone actually working out for more than 15 minutes

you DO have to sweat to lose weight, these people are wasting their money.

Thanks for that. I've always stretched after running - but I'll give the belt a go.

They don't remove fat, but they do help with the soreness. I feel they make my skin itch while using them, though. Weird.
