As of 2005, however, the rate of hepatitis B among adults over 20 was still high, from three to seven percent. The Korean Association for the Study of the Liver and the National Statistical Office estimate that some 2.20 to 3.76 million people suffer from the disease in Korea.

Everyone eating out of the same bowl. A recipe for disaster.
Get vaccinated before coming to Korea!

The vaccination is administered in 2 shots, each several months apart. I got the first 1 but missed the 2nd. I guess I'm not properly immunised... Rolling Eyes

You get drunk on like a beer. That's the bad thing about it.

In England, 3 shots are recommended, followed by a tester as it doesn't always work. It's worth doing.

Twinrex(spl) Get it done within about 6 weeks. Just might need another one a year after but usually not.

I asked a Dr about Twinrix (I think that's the correct spelling) when I first came here and he'd never heard of it and didn't think it was possible to have a vaccine for both Hep. A and B.

Has anyone had a Hep A or B shot while in Korea?

I'm in the same boat as you, but my doctor in Canada said that one shot would be enough to protect you for a couple of years. The two shots within six months is supposed to provide "lifetime" (25-year) protection.

Get the shots! The Hep A shot is given and then 6 months later you get the last course. The B is given once and then again 2 months later.
There is none for C, and that's the deadly one. My friend died of C in Ecuador last year.
You know you have Hep if you get dizzy alot and just want to sleep. You usually have chronic blood stot eyes too. It's bad news. Sad
