Does anyone know anything about this place? On the one hand, it sounds great (mostly unstructured, etc) but on the other...it sounds like it could be just a glorified amusement park job.

Info, anybody?

While I have not worked directly for any of the K Eng. Villages, I tried negotiating a contract with a number of recruiters and/or Village Directors.

In essence, the nature of the work is VERY similar to that at hagwons: 20-25 lessons per week, sometimes standard classroom environment, sometimes role-playing in thematic environments.

HOWEVER, there were VERY strange clauses in the contract including:
-dormitory style housing (not studio) with a 10PM curfew.
-extensive housing deposit/maintenance fees.
-expectations of unpaid OT work.
-vague and/or ambiguous holiday schedule.
-restrictions on socializing with the other 'foreign employees' at the EV. Apparently, several EVs hire Eastern Europeans to operate front-end facilities.

I had little success trying to clarify and/or amend a contract to my satisfaction, and in the end, decided to jettison the idea of working for an EV. BE CAREFUL!!!!

Do a Google/Yahoo search for blogs of previous EV employees, then make a decision for yourself.

Hi,

I also received a contract from this school and found the 10pm curfew and "No unauthorized gatherings with teachers or students." restriction a little off.... However, this is what it said regarding overtime: "Employer may require Employee to work overtime in addition to normal Work Days and Work Hours. In this case, overtime pay will be provided." The amount was not specified though..
