The grass is always greener on the other side.......until you get there.
Whenever I have bad days in Korea, thinking about how shite the UK is cheers me up.
Just get out there. Try somewhere different. Vietnam was good for me.

Rusty,
I think you should get back out there! I was annoyed when I had to come back to the north west but after the Russian school I was going to work for gave me a contract that wasn't fit to wipe my arse on. I have come to he realization that Asia is where its at for teaching English!
I think you come with me to PS in Seoul mate.. none of this hagwon shit! I think we will have a better time of it! |

I do the same thing, except think of the US. Then I get even happier! |

I preferred my college days in Montreal. Korea is all right, but I like Montreal better. Granted, this sometimes feels like college all over again, and sometimes it's easier to meet people and make friends. |

Must be pretty bad if you think teaching English is better than finding a real job w/ a future back home. Are you unemployable? Anyhow, you will become so if you stay in Asia teaching English for too long.

Montreal kicks butt. I have been there 5 times on business trips and not once were we thinking of what to do now.
BTW, Congrats on the Canadiens making into the second round. |

Montreal is also my home, i dearly miss it.
on the other hand, Montreal will seem so small after Seoul, it makes me nervous i'll get depressed. |

Don't get me started. Gorgeous women, laid-back attitudes and a nice looking city to boot. I didn't catch a hint of the supposed "French-Canadian" rudeness or anything like that. At this point I may go dual-citizenship so I can live in Montreal full-time. |

I don't even think of England being 'the grass is greener' and haven't for years.
I feel great everyday especially when logging into the internet. The first page is usually MSN.co.uk as I navigate to Hotmail. The first page is
Paris Hits London
Paris Hilton descended on the UK capital and caused chaos on the streets. Check out our gallery to see her London escapades.
or
Find out what the stars are wearing at the BAFTA's. We get the lowdown.
Then I realise that I have no idea about it because I'm in Korea. Yipee!
Although those six celebrity guys are starting to bug me. |

| I thought every man in the UK had a horse and rescued fair maidens and slayed dragons every day and all that story book nonsense. The U.S. aint so well off either my friend. I'm happy to be here. |

You seem to have made your mind up about not teaching in any more hagwons, fair enough but the reality is man that public schools can be just as...if not more shite than hagwons. For starters, there really can be a lot of resentment from the public school teachers regarding your employment at their school. I don't know why this is but it's pretty obvious with some of the teachers i work with, i use to care but with less than a month to go, their opinon means absofuckinglutley nothing to me. I just hope i can refrain from spitting in their faces (some mind you...not all by any means) when it's time for me to say adios. There can be a real sense of isolation with public schools, you are definitley the odd man out and it can be hard to deal with at times. Generaslly, public school teachers (ok....in my experience) have little to know clue how to best utilise their foreign english teachers, it can be a real joke at times. Thge kids are pretty much the same as in hagwons, except you have about 10 times as many to contend with.
Anyways...i'm going back to a good hagwon gig i hooke up after 2 years in a public school. |

Cestdeegres
A resentment is always about what someone or something has done to us.
A resentment keeps us feeling like a victim.
This is why the Koreans teachers resent. They don't resent you persay, but the own vicimization of thier government. The foreign teacher is just marked a reminder of this attribute by it's negative association.
Try to be senstive and understand thier perpective, they are treatly very unfairly by the government. |
