I'd like to hang around Korea for a month or two after my contract is up in March. I'm with SMOE so I don't think staying on and working is an option, I'd just like to spend a month here without anything to do and do some traveling/catching up before I go. Would it be possible to switch over to a tourist visa at the end of my contract without leaving the country? Sorry if this has been covered before I didn't find it in the stickies.

If you stay longer than 10 days you will lose your "return ticket".

You CAN get a non-working extension for up to 30 days coming off an E2.

If you want longer than that you need to leave and return (same day, next flight is acceptable).

Your entry (visa waiver) stamp is good for 30-180 days (depending on your nationality). IF you are American you can extend it to a total of 90 days simply by dropping into an immigration office, filling out the application and paying the 30k won fee.

Thanks Ttom for answering (basically) my same question in two separate threads. We need to name some kind of award after you.
