Any Hellenes in this country besides me? I'm feeling extra homesick and want to break this funk.

Where are you at, and what's your story?

Ela patrioti,

I'm in Chuncheon, been here for 5 years(!!) already. Sick of being in the States, can't go back to patrida 'cuz I'm avoiding the army 'till 35. Can't really complain, like it more than dislike it.

How 'bout you?

There are actually MANY Greeks here, all at the shipyards of Ulsan/Koje/ Mokpo. Also, the Greek church in Aehyeon in Seoul is a good meeting ground. I see them on road trips to the south, or in Seoul. The owners of Santorini restaurant in Itaewon are another Greek/Korean couple. Great folks, though they're a bit older.

If you want more infos, PM me.

Ta leme filaraki....

Tzazki sauce isn't hard to make big guy. My wife makes it once a week.

Tell you what made me cry last week. I was on Youtube and I came across this video of Maria Farantouri and Mikis Theodorakis - black and white. Hearing that song just blew me away. I haven't heard it since I was ten years old living back in the patrida mou.

This one made me cry too. I cried because I didn't marry a girl that looked like these hotties:

This will get you salivating. Would make a nice addition to a holiday buffet get-together, in the teachers lounge, or even for your students with a tray of veggies:

Quote:

Tzatziki Sauce
"Easy dressing for gyros or Greek salad. Also makes a nice dipping sauce for Veggies."

INGREDIENTS

* 2 (8 ounce) containers plain yogurt
* 2 cucumbers - peeled, seeded and diced
* 2 tablespoons olive oil
* 1/2 lemon, juiced
* salt and pepper to taste
* 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
* 3 cloves garlic, peeled

DIRECTIONS

1. In a food processor or blender, combine yogurt, cucumber, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, dill and garlic. Process until well-combined. Transfer to a separate dish, cover and refrigerate for at least one hour for best flavor.

Another recipe calls for fresh mint

Don't forget to add a bit of celery to the mix along with your Aristotle "Harry" Agannis pride for it!

DF

P.S.: Check out Minos Roast Beef in East Lynn or Marblehead, Massachusetts: The gals and guys (Greek) serve the most delicious food on the North Shore of Boston, Massachusetts.
