I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of finding a temp place to live that is descent but cheap. I am coming out to Korea in the beginning of Jan. with my girlfriend. I am hesistant to contractually agree to a job until I obtain my F4 visa once I get out there. Specifically, I am interested in cheap places in Seoul. I have researched online that "guesthouses" in Seoul are relatively cheap and not too bad to live in temporarily. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks for your help!

Since no one else has offered advice, I'll give it a shot:

If it's only temporary, you could consider living at a goshiwon, which is like a dormitory: small room, shared bathroom and kitchen facilities. They range from very cheap to a little on the pricey side, and rent by the month if I'm not mistaken. Almost exclusively found in university areas.

Another option might be a hasukjip, which basically means "boarding house." I've heard that two meals a day are included by the ajumma running it. Again, I've seen them around university areas, and lots of ads are placed on telephone poles, etcetera in those areas.

If you're not already in Korea, I'd suggest Googling them or some kind of government agency in charge of helping foreigners in Korea for more information.
