I'm working at a hagwon and am considering staying for another year. If I sign a new contract, does that mean I go back into a 6-month trial period where I can be fired without 30 days warning or severence, as I understand is the case on first contracts? Does the fact that I will have consecutive contracts mean I am considered past the 6-month trial period?

Why are you asking us? We don't have a copy of your contract.

Read your present contract, read the 'new' contract... change as necessary.

You might also want to read the Korean Labor Standards Act.

Yes. There's an English language version. OP, you should read it because as soon as you are a legal teacher, you are protected under labor law- no "6 month wait." Don't believe everything you read on this site- many are hagwon owners or useful idiots trying to muddy the waters and confuse people about their legal rights.
