When you get your visa, do you receive an register ID number you can use like the resident register number of koreans? |

Yes....and No. Yes you get an ID number like Koreans have. BUT you can't always use it. Some websites won't acknowledge it as the ID part starts with a different number than Koreans. |

Slight clarification.... you get a national ID number when you get your 'alien registration card' which you must get within 90 days of coming to Korea on your E-2 visa.
Certain things still require your passport number, anyways, and it's really, really annoying when your ID number doesn't work on a website because it starts with the wrong number. |
