I am curious. If I work at SMOE for one year and 8 months then give my 30 day notice, will I get no severance, one year severance, or a pro rated one year and 9 months severance? |

Legally, one year and 9 months prorated. Not sure what those yahoos at SMOE will actually do though. They seems to have no idea what they are doing sometimes... |

if you did not take a payout after your first year, then you should get a prorated payment for everyday you worked.
carla knows about this and has all the of the calculation methods in detail. i couldnt find the post about it, but just msg her.
UPDATE: Here it is.....I should really print it out for future reference...

According to Labor law - They must pay you 1 year severance + 9 months (salary / 12 X 9)...
If they don't immediately take the Principal of your Public school to the labor office - and SMOE will pay you immediately...
SMOE doesn't want any trouble caused towards their principals and its the BIGGEST shame - and TOTAL loss of face for a Public school principal to be taken to the labor office...
they will pay up - even before the labor office meeting happens... |

Don't you get your severance paid every 12 months? |

Only do this, if you don't want to work for SMOE again. |

Hightop, I cannot read Chinese, but are you trying to insult me? Or perhaps, your comment is aimed at Old Gil? Also, why are you and Old Gil writing in Chinese? Are either one of you really expecting the OP to be able to read your response? Seriously, most people on this forum are not exactly fluent in Chinese. |

Old Gil said stay in Korea and that it's number one. Hightop said he's a grown man and doesn't have to suffer through Korea's B.S. |
