Come ON. The debate over experience/"real" qualifications notwithstanding, I was making more than that my first year here with no experience whatsoever.
I don't think this director is going to get too many applications. |

True that. However we should consider the other side of the coin as well.
I have seen ridiculous teacher expectations. (This was on a actual resume I saw, although I will paraphrase to save space)
1. Salary of 2.3 million
2. 25 hour work week
3. Full Internet and cable access at apartment
4. Korean co-teacher in class
5. No phone teaching, no kindergarten, no elementary
6. No marking, no test-giving.
7. Overtime is not an option
8. The above requirements are non-negotiable
The person writing this had six months of experience and a B.A. |

Yeah some people got the "God" complex. They think they are so valuable...perhaps desperate people might give in, but when they get screwed outta their last months pay and severence, guess they might want to reflect on the fact good schools don't pay as much, but you always get paid...which is important. |

I only work 24 at my hakwon, but then I don't get all those other benefits the other fellow was asking for either. Get what you can, and then do your job. That's my philosophy anyways. |

In true Korean style, they want what they consider the best - CELTA, TOEFL, Masters, Education and a shed load of experience, but are only willing to pay what thay pay the other monkeys. Kind of insulting really to those who have studied and have done the time.
Oh yes. And you have to be Canadian, preferably female. |

I signed on for my current job, which is a lot less than what my 'market rate' is. However the hours, holidays and stabilty more than make up for it. |
