We have ooooodles of DVD's which we bought in the States but now can't play them. We keep getting 'wrong region' messages.

What can we do??

Should we get a DVD player shipped here to Korea from the States?

Or is there another way we can watch our DVD's?

It depends upon the DVD player. There are codes you can enter with the remote that will unlock many players. Do a search on Internet for your player's make/model and also terms such as region, free, codes, unlock. You will usually get a number of places to find if your player has an unlock code.

Even if it doesn't have an unlock code, you can just as easily buy one of those mini-dvd players that's coded Region 1. I bought one for my cousin so he could take it to Africa. Less than $100, had a lil screen.

Edit: Or, DVDShrink to rip your movie and burn it to a DVD. The backup will be region free.

You bought the DVD player here then? Take it to the Hi-Mart or wherever you bought it, ask them to make it "all region". They can--(at least at Ori station they were able to) and it takes a few seconds only.

Will your DVD player plug into any Korean TV? Or are there different adapters for different regions of DVD players?
