Had an interview yesterday. Actually, two, but one was for a part-timer.

Anyway...

Was asked if I was married. I'm not. Then I was asked if they could ask ma a rude question (didn't they already?): May I ask your age? Then I was asked why I wasn't married. All I said was "Good question" and looked at them (I was taught to be frank at interviews and not to run on, although I did at one point because what do I have to lose?).

Please give me you KOREAN interview experiences. I have a few....

That never came up during the interview. When I went to sign the contract though, sometimes the recruiter would ask about it. Since I lived in Japan, it's kind understandable to them ("Oh, of course, you wouldn't want to marry one of those Japanese women. I see now.) Laughing

My former boss at my current school asked if I was married. After I'd signed the contract, she tried to set me up on a date with a coworker! I refused, because I had a girlfriend (who is now my wife). My boss was disappointed, and told me it was OK, because I wasn't married yet!

I had a K boss who was proud to show off the W2,000,000+ BC card-uh invoice for a night of debauchery with the local school inspector; and whose wife had 'wandering hands' while being very frank about his 'lack of stamina'. Rolling Eyes

Hualien is a good town. There's a neat pub there where I scoffed down some Taiwan Pijou back in the day. Had my bike stolen there a boatload of times as well.

In my experiences, a Korean interview usually started with, "Can you start tomorrow morning 8am?"

My interviews here have tended to be very little talk and mostly requests for forms, forms, forms. Letters proving that I did indeed work at Shell in the summer of 1993 pumping gas and didn't invent the position in order to obtain this university posting.

Hey OP:

I had an interview where I told them I was getting married and couldn't start until a bit after they actually wanted me to start.

I get the job, then the recruiter tries to scam me, so I get my wife to call him. He thought I was joking about getting married...wtf? Shocked

That interview was the worst too. They basically wanted a warm body. The job ended up being good though, so worth that I guess.

Same thing. One of my bosses at my school asked made up a list of questions to ask a potential Korean Teacher at my academy. He showed it to me and asked for my input.

Him: "What church do you go to?"
Me: "That's a very personal question, don't you think?"
Him: "Ok, you're right. How about: "What religion are you?""
Me: "..."

Him: Do you have any questions?

ME: Can I see a copy of the contract?

Him: Not now but after the interview.

ME: What does the position pay?

Him: It's in the contract.
