I was curious about what to expect from a bed provided by the school. Are they usually new or at least new-ish? I am scared of getting a matress that is small and well used by many people. Also, if the matress looks like the result of a month long hobo orgy can I buy a new one and have the old one removed?

It's a free country, I don't see why not. You'd have to pay for all of it of course

If you find one that doesn't feel like a block of cement please let me know.

ACE sells King Koil. Same as I had in the US.

I have always gotten old, used mattresses in provided housing. Yuck. Good luck!

I'd have no problem paying for the bed. My concern was mostly that the school wouldn't want to store the old one. I'd offer to just leave the new one as a replacement, but if I stay in the country and eventually change schools I'd like to take it with me. It's kind of a silly issue, but I always like to be prepared.

The key is to have a softer top mattress. The mattresses I have seen in Korea have generally been very good as a base, but need something on top to make them a bit softer.
