Hi folks,

Am heading to Gwangju City next week - can't wait! I'm wondering about currency exchange. I think I've left it a little late to order KRW over here and am wondering how easy it is to exchange it there? Sorry, I'm sure this topic has been discussed many times, but I'm a little anxious.

Also, would I get a better rate in Korea just now?

Thanks in advance

Best thing to do would be create a bank account then do a bank transfer from your UK account.. Exchanging cash is a bad idea.

Right, does that include exchanging cash at the airport?

How bad is the exchange rate? Shocked

My bank charges so much to do a money transfer abroad that I sometimes wonder if exchanging cash might be cheaper.

Just don't bring any Scottish notes. Nowhere will accept them for exchange!

Can't say for sure if the exchange rate at the airport is any good or not - But do you really need to carry that much cash around? If you do a bank transfer from your UK account, the larger the amount the better. You get a 'transaction' fee but that's only about 10-15 pound. I've been using HSBC Internet Banking for this and it's a piece of cake.

the airport exchanges here are pretty decent. as far as i remember, they're all regulated, (actually in the baggage pickup area) so you get a normal rate.
