Middle of the longest school break of the year = PEAK season travel prices.

It would be the same as ticket pricing in the US in July-Aug.

yeah, so how would you label Korean August ticket pricing then?
which was also preposterous.

Those same tickets are about 1/2 that price come March 6.

Summer break (August) prices would be like Christmas or Spring break pricing in North America.

IF you want to travel cheap, do it when school is IN session and not during a holiday period.

The economy is recovering according to financial markets performance so the airlines follow suit to capitalize through raising fares. While this is a jobless recovery, the airline industry among others responds to financial market conditions; not how it really is for the those of us living and working the Main street lifestyle. Of course, very few on Main street are jetsetting around, it's the people in the money and careers.

The idea is people with money investing it have more money to spend on travel, golf, and other recreation if they are doing good at the bank. (which they are now) If the stock market takes a dive this Fall or Winter, then expect to see decreasing fares to encourage all those taking a hit to spend money on travel. Even if they still have ample money in the bank, they may still not travel if feeling a pinch on their investment portfolio being down. It's really all psychological instead of anything factually logical. If you don't like what you see today, try again in a month or two.

Dude I don't know what day you were looking, but I'm planning to fly Air Asia to KL then on to Vietnam. One way from Seoul to KL is 275,000 and return trip one way was 150,000. That seems pretty cheap to me.

I think you just have to keep checking the airlines websites for sales. If you are looking at Air Asia, then you don't mind the budget carriers.

Cebu Pacific had a sale on 10/10/10. I believe you could fly from Busan/Incheon to the Philippines for about 100.000 KRW round trip. You could then get a ticket very easily from Manila to another destination. Air Asia, Cebu Pacific, and Tiger all fly there and go to other Southeast Asian countries.

I don't remember the total for our tickets from Busan, but I know it was less than 1.000.000 KRW for 2 adults and a child (we bought a seat for our child, so 3 seats total). Our final destination is Koh Samui. Not the most direct flights, but we have more than a month there, so I wasn't too worried about losing 2 days. My wife can always go shopping for the day in the philippines and my son and I can lounge in a pool.

Cebu Pacific has had several sales to Korea, but they're all for flights ORIGINATING in the PI.

They're not stupid enough to drop prices here where the Korean sheeple are used to ovepaying for everything, there's demand, and in the scheme of things, their prices are still reasonable (especially compared to KAL, Asiana, etc)

of course once you're in the PI, then getting a very cheap ticket to fly from Manila/etc to anywhere else in SE Asia is quite easy. However, with the cost of the ticket from Korea to PI (at least 600, maybe 550 if you're lucky) the savings disappear and it becomes impractical.

Also remember we are eternally doomed and screwed to be able to travel on vacation at the precise times all the Korean sheeple travel, so we're doomed to pay double prices, etc.

That sale on 10/10/10 was awesome. We calculated a trip for next year and got tickets for 30,000 to Manila, but couldn't get a return ticket for cheap. It's 145,000 return for the date we want. We're hoping for a sale within a month.

Malaysia Air has good prices all year round on flights to Kota Kinabalu or Kuala Lumpur. Once in KL, you can fly Air Asia to many places. I am not impressed by Air Asia's route to Incheon. 400,000 round trip is not that great.

Many airlines fly out of Philippines but if they fly from Clark, you have to get to Scumgeles. More lost time on your trip.

I guess some people are not easily impressed. If you can find a better deal than that, let me know. Yes, you may have found cheaper flights in the past, but that doesn't really help much in the present does it?

400,000KRW for a roundtrip to KL is actually quite good. There aren't many places in the world where you can take a 6.5hr round trip flight for about $358 US.

If there are many places that you can find that sort of deal, please let me know.

Malaysia Air's price is about 330,000 before taxes and it's full service. Air Asia is the Ryanair of Asia, with surcharges on everything and no service. I think you get one bag? Or is even that extra?

30,000 to Manila is what I call cheap.

It's extra, just like nearly every domestic flight here in the USA now. And while there is no "service" on Air Asia, it is super efficient. I certainly like them.
