A moving target is harder to hit than a stationary target. No two ways about it, but I'm sure you'll try to find an asinine way to prove that's not true. So I'll rephrase my original post so I don't offend your overly-sensitive PC self.

The Korean government is run by idiots and Koreans are the sheep who follow the ridiculous directives.

Cars are all required to stop when the sirens sound. That's where it is cited that people should remain completely still. While stopped in the car, you are not permitted to exit the car. I know this because I was forced to stop while running errands in the car today.

Stopping in the middle of the street, remaining inside the car, and not moving for 15 minutes would qualify as a stationary target, yes? If they really want to run a real drill, then shouldn't people abandon their cars and move to designated safe areas? What's the point of sitting inside a car for 15 minutes in the middle of the street? Does that somehow help you in a disaster or attack by the North? Staying in a car didn't look like a very bright idea a few weeks ago when the floods hit and cars were submerged. So, I go back to my point that the drill is designed by idiots, and those idiots happen to be Koreans working for the Korean government.

I can very happily say that I have never in my life taught English in Korea (or anywhere else). I came here in the mid 1990s with a Ph.D and worked at a university for 3 years teaching a core subject (read: Not English). Then, in 1999 I opened my first business here and currently run two businesses, which keeps me very busy and very well paid.

So, you lost your money (Quote: "I'd put my money that you either are or were an English teacher in Korea."). How much were you betting on this? Should I send you my bank account information so you can send the money to me? I'll even send you one of my business accounts so you can verify I'm not an English teacher. What do you think? Does 100,000 won seem like a fair amount for losing the bet?

By the way Airborne... with your piss-poor punctuation ("Dont fool yourself, I wasn't offended there is a difference between "not PC" and "arrogant tool.""), I hope you're not an English teacher here, because you'd be doing your students a great disservice.

Finally, I'm not arrogant. Arrogant is when you think you are better. I know I'm better. Example: I don't even teach English, yet my English grammar is superior to your English grammar. Furthermore, I realize that sitting in a car, parked in the middle of the street during a time of disaster or war, might not be the best idea, so why make people practice doing it? ever do something that doesn't make sense.

I'll wait for your defense of the mighty and wonderful, can-do-no-wrong, ROK.

Because everyone driving around, panicking and hitting into each other is much better than staying still for a while.

My point isn't that the ROK Government and army can do no wrong or that we should absolutely do everything that they say. My point is that you don't know what your talking about.

Zyzyfer: Please refer to "A Manual For Writers," by Turabian (Chicago Press). It is considered to be the fundamental guide for written English grammar and punctuation. According to Turabian, it is proper to use two spaces after periods, question marks, exclamation marks, and colons. On the other hand, one space should be used after commas and semicolons.

I guess you can go back to teaching kindergarten students now.
