I am looking for a truly Irish/Korean experience.... IE adjummas singing irish singalongs  Has anyone heard of anything going on in Seoul for St Pat's? (the singing adjumma does not have to be included though a singalong would be quite entertaining :  ) |

A Hooley @ 8pm, every second Sunday of the month at Soho Bar, Itaewon (02) 797-2280: From Itaewon Station turn right before the fire station and left just after King Club. Soho is 20 metres up the hill on your right.

Thursday March 17th, Irish Quiz Night at Dublin Bar in Gangnam. For KW40,000, teams of up to 4 people can participate in this charity event for Amnesty International. Starts 8pm. Email to reserve a team: [email protected]

Saturday March 19th, Seoul Gaels: a day of Gaelic sports, football, hurling. 2pm to 6pm Dongguk University

Saturday March 19th: St Pat's Guiness Draught Hooley at O'Kim's, 7pm to 2 am. KRW55,000--all you can eat and drink. Live bands playing Irish music + rock n roll. O'Kim's is in the bottom of the Westin Chosun Hotel, short walk from City Hall subway station.

Sunday March 20th, Fifth Annual St Patrick's Day Parade begins at 3:30 pm in the Daehagno area. Hyewha Station area (dark blue line). Afterwards, at 6pm there will be an international concert featuring traditional Irish music and dancing. After that, there will be a huge informal party at the near-by Santana beer restaurant featuring live Irish music and reduced prices for drinks.

"All you can drink" is at best false advertising in my experience.
I went to the Choson O'Kims (for ST. PATS) once and the service was pretty damn sad.
You should not advertise "All you can drink" and then "run out" at 11pm.
The buffet was good, however, I will admit.
They would be better off being honest and charging 20 000 won less and having a cash bar. |

No, I never wrote that. All I suggested was that perhaps people who mindlessly celebrate St. Patrick's Day should take a moment to consider the pain of others before leaping onto the bandwagon. |

Celebration and pain dont usually go hand in hand ;o) Why feel guilty for getting together, even if to mindlessly celebrate? Mindful celebration, mindless celebration, both are in good spirits. You may consider others' pain anytime you wish, and no one will pull you off the bandwagon of pain. So why throw rocks in the path of the bandwagon of celebration? That's my philosophy anyhoo ...  |
