So I don't follow soccer too closely, but their warm up games and popular opinion here seem to suggest that Korea will not perform so well in Germany.
Who will be blamed?
Sure, the true soccer fans might actually admit there is something wrong with the Korean team. But how about the average "daehanmigook" yelling fan that doesn't know the difference between forward and mid-field.

I voted for 'coach'. Remember how they were quick to blame the Korean coach after (heck, during) the 1998 World Cup. He said that the Korean team needed a few more years of international experience before being able to win the big games. But, Korean 'soccer fans' claimed that 'he killed the fighting spirit of the Korean team'. Turns out that they were wrong and he was right.
(I won't get into how Korean 'soccer fans' were far from being in love with Guus Hiddink up until a week before the 2002 World Cup because we can only speculate what would have happened if the Korean team had buckled under pressure, as they often do.) |

of course they will blame the coach. Every sports team fan on the planet blames the coach when they do poorly. |

Hardly. Any bandwaggon fan blames the coach. People who know sports realize its not his fault.
Take Canada at the winter Olympics. Idiots would blame Pat Quinn. Anybody who knows anything about hockey realizes that the players didn't get up for the game and that Canada went with 1 dimensional defencemen-- big strong guys that can't really move the puck. Sure, some fool will say that it was Quinn's job to motivate the players and get them going, but these are grown men, pro athletes. Not 12 year old boys |

The coach, naturalmente.
They're doing their best to "Hiddinkifiy" him; witness the lastest PAVV advertisements. I saw a college/university student with an Advocaat badge on her bookbag.
Nevertheless, unless some obvious f-ups occur during actual game-play, they'll blame Advocaat, but the reality is most Koreans don't think their team will do well, and they've been polling since last year. In their heart of hearts, they know that the team's a lead balloon, and that they'll be lucky to advance to the next round.
However, God forbid they should do so, because we know what would come next. |

In the Korean Times, they've polled and they say 9 out of 10 Koreans expect their team to make it out of their group. |

I watched Korea play Uzbekistan (or one of the 'Stans) in the final round of qualifying for the world cup. The announcers blamed the subsequent tie (if memory serves) on: 1) the heat 2) the poor quality grass on the pitch, and 3) a "slanted" pitch. This was when Bonfret (sp) was in charge...
The media will latch onto any initial small influence from outside forces, then when the smoke clears jump all over Advocaat. No villas in Jeju for this Dutchman! |

Sure I saw a poll on one of the big TV channels saying 79% thought they wouldn't go through to the next round. |
