This is a little bit of a silly question, but what does "Moe-lie-yo" mean? I know absolutely no Hangul/Korean at this point.

it is the POLITE form of "I don't know"

great that you heard that

if your students say "mow-la", that's disrespectful to say to a teacher

i have been told not to let them say that

so when they say it I bellow "mow-lie-yo!" then have them say "I don't know"

It's Korean for "You're going to be here for a while so you might as well study some basic Korean phrases."

Can we take it for granted that OP does actually mean Mow-la-yo?

Sounds to me as though he or she has heard 모엘리요..... Very Happy

It must be 몰라요. If you just plain read what he wrote as if it was English, it's gotta be, it's just gotta! Laughing

Himm...after reviewing your transliteration of the phrase in question, I concluded that your students are asking you to increase the frequency with which you entertain them through the telling of tall tales.
