| do you say spē'shēz, or spē'-sēz ? (i didn't use the IPA because i couldn't get it to show up right on daves) i say spē'sēz but i just heard my friend's english tape and they said spē'shēz. both are OK according to the dictionary. |

I say "spee-seez."
I majored in biology and heard it both ways often.
EDIT: Just remembered an elderly prof, likely pushing retirement, saying,
"spoy-sheez." Yes, I'm Texan. |

Similarly, "race-ism" is correct, although many pronounce it "ray-shism". |
