I knew that some day, Dave's ESL's discussion forums would serve some other purpose than trying to "out smart" the other poster or "make fun of someone just because you're bored". Anyways, I remember reading something about someone getting pulled over by the cops, them acting ignorant and getting away with whatever. Well, IT WORKS!

I was on my way somewhere when I got pulled over by the cops. I was on my scooter. Now, the distance between point A and point B was about 3 minutes on the scooter, so, I thought, "eh, I will leave the helmet in the little case thingy." So, off I went. Well, they stopped me. I had my hat and sunglasses on and they thought I was Korean......until I took off my sunglasses and they saw that I wasn't. So, the cop asked me where I was going (I acted as if I didn't know Korean). I said, "huh?" "what?" He then said in KOrean, "ah...this is a foreigner....oh man....". SO then he said in English, "from?" I said, "oh...I am from America. Nice to meet you". I went to shake his hand and he jumped back and said, "oh..no nono...". He then motioned putting on a helmet. So I said, "oh....here" and I pointed to my seat. So, I got up and put on my helmet and he left.

I wonder if I would have begun speaking Korean to him if it would have been worse? A ticket maybe? Wonder why the bike (under 50CC) didn't have a license plate? etc.

Now, I AM COMPLETELY IN THE WRONG HERE; I SHOULD HAVE HAD MY HELMET ON. But....as I said before....

ignorance is bliss...well....at least "fake" ignorance.

Maybe the old proverb, "power perceived is power acheived" fits better here. Whatever.

Under 50cc! Did they stop you because you were driving a hedge trimmer?

done it many a time and got off so many times. Well 2 times but....

Got away with it in England on a 125cc and that was in a traffic police town too. (suped up Yamaha tzr 125 with power-valve, de-regulated exhaust and LOCKTITE race kit - yeah boy! - 85mph downhill on a suny day with the wind behind me!)

In Phuket I got caught helmetless on a 50cc scooter and they wanted to fine me. They were doing it to every foriegner they saw but I watched as tons of helmetless Thais rode pass without being stopped....

I pretended I had only the little money I had in change in my pocket which was about two thirds of the fine and when they asked for id, I said it was at my motel on the other side of the island. (I have a problem with authority when it's unfair.)

All this was a lie and I knew I could be getting myself in deeper trouble....

But I did it anyway, went to the cop shop, paid the smaller ammount and off I went for a fun packed hour long perusal of Phuket Zoo where a tiger charged at me, slamming up against the side of it's caged and scared the hell out of me....

driving home after a few beers one night...
cops stopping everyone for a 'breathalizer' check...
cop shoves the thing in the window...
(pretending it's a cell phone) 'Hello, hello, yo-bo-sae-yo'....
look at cop like 'wtf'...
cop looks at his partner with a 'babo wae-gook' look...
grabs the thing and waves like 'get the f' outta here'
