Has anyone found this? Everywhere I've gone, I've just seen extra virgin olive oil. |

Not sure, but I plan on trying the Shangri-la Diet, and the book says I must use extra light olive oil. |

Best of luck to you, but I highly discourage diets in general. |

Someone on a message board?
I was just trying to offer up my opinion as someone who's lost a considerable amount of weight.
God, take that stick out of your ass and stay fat. Fatty. |

I know a guy who trimmed down a lot on the shangri-la diet. He couldn't find the extra light olive oil so he used extra light canola oil (e-mart, homeplus etc). I think it works the same. |

The author of "The Shangri-la Diet" says he also uses sugared water and flaxseed oil, but recommends extra light olive oil the most.
I figure I'll try a few black markets to see if they have it, or perhaps Costco might, too. |

Maybe the light only refers to the taste of the oil.
Olive oil is a good choice as it's generally pressed and not processed too much.
Canola on the other hand, is far from healthy as it's a an extremely processed product (junk food). |

Hi, "light olive oil" is a weired way to define the delicated taste of the oil. it only depend from your personal taste preferences: in fact the kalories are the same for all the vegetable oils, 9 kal per 1 g.
The differences between "extra vergin" and other type (such olive oil or similar) is that inside you'll find the poliphenols, a great antioxidant that help the heart, the good cholesterol and fight the free radicals.
And the good thing is that as it is more tasty of the seed oils you can use less to dress your dishes. That's means less kalories and more antioxidants...
I think that if you make a diet (and it is not funny!) better to choose a tasty extra vergin olive oil and, if possible, use different types to have every day new tastes... the salads and the vegetables will be "light" but also "full" of porfumes and good sensations.
If you want any suggestion i'll be happy to help you. Actually olive oil is my job! |

Sorry, but I need EXTRA LIGHT olive oil. Extra virgin has taste, which will defeat the purpose of the diet.
I'm not going to put the olive oil on my food, I'm going to eat a tablespoon of the oil two hours between eating. |
