Since I live in Colorado, USA where there is currently a ban on smoking, the ash trays at most places are beer bottles with a little bit of water at the bottom so you can quickly drop the cigarette in if a cop walks in the door, and there doesn't appear to be ash trays on the table. I find this "ash tray" works pretty well in general what with putting out the cigarette the moment it is dropped in, but the no place to rest the cigarette is a big hassle...
I like having a cigarette resting in an ash tray, and would prefer one that didn't have water in it... |

| I don't care about having a place to put the cigarette, but the coffee that I've seen a few places use is far less messy. |

Dunno, but they were certainly in common use in Kuwait in the 70's. |

| I'm torn on this one. The wet ashtray makes sense if you're outside on a windy day, but not if you're inside and the ashes won't blow out. |

| I don't mind the wet ashtray, just as long as it's not phlegm that's the source of the wet. |
