How do you think about this? Do you wish to work for some time after your high school? Because in my country seldom any people may work or travel for a year or more before they go to university after graduating from high school. I hope to figure out some reasons for that. |

I don't get your post.
Do you mean a transition from high school to college? and you need a trip to complete this transition or something? |

Most people go straight to college from high school, if they go to college at all, but some people don't. I know one of them.
Jane and I are taking German in the evenings at the local community college here in Southern California. One of our fellow students (in German 1, 2, and 3) just graduated from high school and is going to Germany for another year of high school -- they have 13 years there, but 12 here. He already took a year off school between his junior year (grade 11) and his senior year (grade 12) to work and save money for school and travel.
He plans to go to college -- in fact, he has been accepted to the university of his choice, which has also granted him a year's leave before beginning studies -- but he wants to experience the world first.
I admire his guts and pluck, not always so common in relatively overprotected youth these days. He somehow fell in love with German and Germany and decided he just had to live there, and he has made it happen all by himself, from learning the language (well, to an extent) to getting a foster home and getting accepted to a German high school, on top of getting into his chosen college to commence a year hence.
So, Rioxn, what do you want to do? _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |

That's one of the difference I found when I arrived in Germany.
Some of my friends here would hold their degree for one year or more and continue later after some time of working.
Actually I am almost graduated from Univ. but I won't go to Grad. without more social experience.
Is your friend in Berlin? Indeed, many Americans are here and their German sounds quite "American", like the pronounce of "R" |

It's not Berlin, but a small town near Hamburg.
But I love Berlin, and so does Jane! We had a wonderful visit there last January.
Yes, we Americans have trouble with the German R, the French R, the Chinese R -- all the Rs except the American R. I use pretty much the same R for French and German. It's still really not right, but it's better than the California R (which is different from the Chicago R, the New York R, the Boston R, the Texas R . . . .). _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |

I'm Japnaese student.
Before I entered university, I got free times to think about my life, and I found what I really want to do.
My parents diagree with my plan, but I will make efforts and receive agreement. |
