Could you tell me why those sentences below can be
the 2nd and the 5th sentence pattern?
Q1. How was the party last night?
Q2. Who made hime a doctor?
According to a text book, it says
1. How (=C) was (=V) the party (=S) ....?
2. Who (=S) made (=V) him (=S) a doctor (=O)
I don't understand why Q1. How = C and
why Q2. Who= S , him= S.
I thought C is always the adj. and
(Q2) Who =S / him =O. |

First of all, your question is not worded clearly. Try to word your questions in a more simple manner.
To answer your question:
In this case, "how" is used as an adverb which modifies "was"
"Who" is a pronoun |

Dear cgage2
Thank you very much for your replay.
I'm sorry that I still can't understand well.
If you may, could you explain more?
I'll try to ask you simply.
Q1: Can the adverb be the complement?
Q2:Why "him" isn't the object?
Can't "Who" use as the subject in this case?
(Let me correct my mistyping last time.
"Who"=C). |
