People dont need a large field and a lot of equipment to have fun. A simple ball will do.
Hitting it into the air to keep it aloft seems a natural thing to do with a ball, and no doubt countless games with this object have been created over the years. Surprisingly, though , the modern game of volleyball was invented only a century ago, by William G. Morgan, in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
Morgan was a physical education instructor with the YMCA(Young Mens Christian Association), an organization that counts physical training as one of its major goals. He invented the game in 1985, and official rule were issued by the American. NCAA(National Collegiate Athletic Association), along with the YMCA, in 1916.
Volleyball is an ideal sport for both men and women. It is challenging, it provides substantial exercise, and it can be enjoyed by both beginners and skilled players. Today it is played everywhere from beach parties to Olympic stadiums. The sport became an Olympic event in1964.
