I have a question. Could you teach me why is "even when" used
to talk about distance?
ex: "A and B are good shops, even when they are in close proximity to
each other."

"even when" has nothing in particular to do with distance, but it can be used with distance.
It is worth going to a good store, (even when)(even if) it is farther away than other stores.

"even when" makes no sense in the "A and B" sentence.
