"IT was a glorious morning, late spring or early summer, as you care to take it, when the dainty sheen of grass and leaf is blushing to a deeper
green" (Jerom K. Jerom)

Can you explain the use of verb blush in here?
I thought it can mean only to become more red, but not green.

Alex.

Hello Shvetsov -

The author is using 'poetic license'....

normally, 'blush' is associated with the colo(u)r red -
blood causes the face/cheeks to turn a 'deeper' colo(u)r

so..'blushing' from a 'dainty sheen' to a 'deeper green'
is a way of describing the 'life blood' flowing through
the world of nature surrounding us.

Are you studying poetry/literature? Or....just for pleasure? Philo
