Hi,
Hocky Pocky is a song for kids, but what does the title mean? In its lyrics, what does do the hocky pocky mean? Thanks in advance.
You put your right hand in, you put your right hand out.
You put your right hand in and you shake it all about.
You do the hockey pokey and you turn yourself around,
That's what it's all about.........

| The Hokey Pokey is a dance; so "do the Hokey Pokey" means do that dance. You can learn a lot about it by googling 'hokey pokey'. |

Hello Leslie -
Hokey Pokey was a popular ice cream treat for kids..maybe it came from that?
One of my dictionaries indicates that it probably derives from
'hocus pocus'.
Actually, it probably does not 'mean' anything at all...just a fun thing for kids to say! Philo |
