Paul Buchanan:

What kind of professor (or teacher, or educator, or professional) writes e-mails like that, anyway?

all she was asking was an extension....

""so these sort of excuses-culturally driven and preying on some sort of Western liberal guilt-are simply lame.""

Ahh, overt discrimination. And he wrote it down. Really, really stupid.

your commnts.

Well, he was fired for his insensitive remark, so maybe he will learn something from the experience. All he had to do was say, "Request for extension denied." That would have been plenty harsh, and he'd still have a job.

His e-mail was very harsh, although not harsher than other things I have heard from college professors to their graduate students. Too many of them are brilliant in their own fields and absolutely incompetent in many other areas, like dealing with human beings. They also get a little drunk with their power, proving what dopes they can be.

Yup, many teacher worse than Mr. Paul Buchanan, I remember long time ago in the high school, one of our teacher chemistry, (you know how pouring)!!
, a student in the class , he doesn't like him at all , he wrote on his desk a small note facing the teacher" I don't like you, I hate chemistry " , the teacher when he sew that note ,he went to the dean "no mobile camera during that time!" then the dean came with school adviser " social advisor" , the student ,he knew before they came , he tear it up and threw it in the garbage , so no evidence ..But the message was reached the teacher.

Some teachers can be high-handed and rude.
They are a problem not only for the students, but also for their fellow teachers.
