How to understand the underlined phrases .thanks in advance !

---------------------

Lisa has found herself in great demand as of late.

Old boyfriends are checking in, and new boyfriends call all the time. Male co-workers always want her by their sides.

Why? Lisa knows information. Lisa is a librarian. "With the current economy, everyone realizes how much access to information can help them weather any storms," she says. "And I can get them to the information they need."

As a result, everyone wants access to Lisa. "My social life has picked up, that's for sure," she says.

"Lisa is the sort of person that you always feel good about being around," says John, a financial analyst. "She doesn't pretend to know all the answers but she knows where to get the answers. She's an engaging woman."

This makes Lisa a very coveted woman. And one of several that men shouldn't miss this year.

This year, don't miss:

The Teacher
Although underpaid, the teacher gets lots of appreciation from her students. That makes her happy and a wonderful match. "When you get a lot of satisfaction from your job during the day, you're not a needy person at night," says Judy, an elementary school teacher.

The Vixen
This foxy, shrewd woman is just right for uncertain times and can add frivolity to any situation. "Everyone is buttoned-up way too tight," says Rose, a self-proclaimed vixen. "I like to unbutton them and see what happens."

The scientist
Not only does this woman like to experiment, but she also realizes that the brain is truly the sexiest organ. Her methodical and logical personality makes her a truly stimulating match.

as of late - latley, starting recently and still going...

checking in - coming to see what's up

weather - I might be being a dumbass right now, but I don't know what that means...

picked up - improved, become more active

way - it's just a word that stresses or shows how uptight she really is

Hope this helps. Very Happy

The word "weather" can be used as a noun or a verb, although the verb use is less common. The verb " to weather" (pronounced like the noun) means to survive or withstand something. It is taken from the days of sailing ships; if a ship was able to "weather a storm", it means that the ship sailed through some difficult weather (like strong winds, rain, or lightning) and did not suffer permanent damage.

In current usage, "to weather [a storm]" has a figurative meaning--being able to go through difficult situations and still come out in good condition.
