When you say "Thank you" to appreciate something others did to you, you may often hear "sure." Sometimes I wonder what "sure" exactly means.
It sounds like "I'm sure I'm deserved to be thanked," sounding a little arrogant. Could someone explain the feeling you may have when you say "Sure"? Also, I'd like to know when you would say "sure" rather than "you're welcome" or "Not a problem." Would you use "sure" to a person in a higher position like president or your boss? Thank you in advance.

Responding with "sure" is the same as saying:
Don't mention it.
No problem.
Any time.
It was nothing.

But it would not be used in a formal situation.
