Hello,


As the sentence says, "Mrs. Wang moved three times for her son." If this sentence is re-written by using the pattern "It is...that...," which of the following is correct? (Or both are correct?)

1. It was for her son that Mrs. Wang moved three times.

2. It was her son that Mrs. Wang moved three times for.


BTW, are "three times" and "for her son" adverbial phrases?

For people who insist that it is wrong to end a sentence with a preposition, only the first sentence is correct. As spoken in everyday English, both sentences would pass as correct. The first is better sounding in any event, in my opinion, even though I don't fall into the "no final preposition" camp.
