In this, 'I am' can be meaned by 'we are'. We are all 13 years old. It means we are on 7th grade.

When we first heard about penpal from our English teacher, we were not that interested about it.

But, when we more and more learned about penpal and read more letters

that had been given and taken from some other penpals, we got interested about it.

Anyways, the reason why we want to have penpals is that we want to learn English by having penpals.
