Hi Teachers:
I'm an english beginner not familiar with some structures. Here's I've been confused about is that-"To what do I owe the pleasure of this unexpected visit?"
My questions are as follows:
1.Is it an inversion? If so,what's its prototype?(I mean how it evolves.)
2.Is the word "do" here a question word (auxiliary)or intensifying word?
Thanks a lot

Dear teacher:
According to the question2,your answer's "yes".Do you mean "do" is both question and intensifying word? Sorry for bothering you again! Anyway, thanks for all you've done! |

| Sorry. I meant its a question word, not an intensifier. If its an intensifier, the sentence would read I do owe the pleasure of this unexpected visit to |
