Could you help me please?
I can't figure out the usage of these two because what the dictionary says is unclear to me.
This special pen lights up / lightens (up) your paper in the dark.
Which one is correct here? or Both?
How are they used?

Lights up (= produces light). 'Lightens up' means 'makes lighter' or, in slang, 'stops being serious'.
