Hello, teachers!!
(1) We only heard the noise of falling leaves.
(2) We only heard the noise of fallen leaves.
(3) We only heard the noise of falling rain.
(4) We only heard the noise of fallen rain.
I guess that the right sentences are (1) and (3). However, I am not sure why.

I agree with you tha (1) and (3) are correct. I think the leaves make noise when they fall, and the rain makes noise when it falls, but when the leaves and rain have already fallen, they don't make any noise. |
