Hello,
"Jane has a few outbursts in the courtroom. She believes Betty is trying to paint her as an unfit mother. John testifies that Jane has been a good mother, but expresses Jane needs to get herself together."
What does 'get herself together' mean in the context? Is 'get oneself together' a fixed phrase?
Thank you very much. |

It means something like, Get her affairs in order, deal with problems and self-destructive behaviour.
It's a fairly common expression. |
