Wood is the hard fibrous material that forms the substance of the main trunk, or branches of a tree.
Wooden means made of wood, like wood, or characteristic of wood. |

I mean what's the difference when they are used as the attribitive?
For example "wood carving", "wooden shelf"?

Come on - ask yourself what they mean.
Wooden shelf means a shelf made of wood.
Wood carving is something you do with, or to wood - a craft, or art- that produces wooden carvings.
