| It was anything but an ordinary cartoon gone big-screen movie. |
I took the quote from a movie review of 'Trnasformers' which was made by a high school student in Avondale, Arizona. The bold part, 'gone big-screen movie' might be incorrect, and instead 'gone to big-screen movie' can be correct. But I'm not sure. Could you tell me if my opinion is right or wrong with some explanations?
Thanks. |

It's right as is. When something is "gone" something else, it has become that thing, or tried to emulate that thing.
She's gone Hollywood = She is acting as though she is a movie star in Hollywood.
It's not just a cartoon gone big-screen movie = It's not just a cartoon that has become / is trying to be a big-screen movie.
He is a president gone dictator = He has only the powers of a president but he is abusing them as though he were the dictator of the U.S.A. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
