Hello everybody:)
I am new here. How are you?
My question is actually about the "how are you" expression. I am currently in Australia and I have observed the following dialogs being popular:
A. How are you?
B. Good, fine etc. and ----> yourself?
My concern is about the word 'yourself'. Before I was taught that I should re- ask- and you? not yourself?
That ' yourself' seems a bit incorrect, altghough I know that it must be proper English. Does it fuction in American English as well? |

Hi Lemah,
Yes, it's also very common in the United States. I don't know whether or not grammar teachers like it, but it's used often in casual speech.
