Would you mind rephrasing " by quelling doubts that Mrs. Clinton was trying to sow about his electability" into an expression easier to understand?
But one of the things that happened was that Mr. Obama�s victories, particularly in states with overwhelmingly white populations, produced more victories for Mr. Obama by quelling doubts that Mrs. Clinton was trying to sow about his electability. _________________ Hiromichi |

...more victories for Mr. Obama by proving his electability in spite of the doubts Mrs. Clinton was spreading about his chances in the general election. |

Thank you. I should have noticed:"doubts that" is not "doubt that". I misunderstood that "that clause" is appositive, but "that" is a relative pronoun.

| Ah, yes. A little tricky there. That refers to doubts and is part of the adjective phrase "Mrs. Clinton was trying to sow (that)." |
