Would you mind rephrasing " by quelling doubts that Mrs. Clinton was trying to sow about his electability" into an expression easier to understand?
But one of the things that happened was that Mr. Obama�s victories, particularly in states with overwhelmingly white populations, produced more victories for Mr. Obama by quelling doubts that Mrs. Clinton was trying to sow about his electability.

...more victories for Mr. Obama by proving his electability in spite of the doubts Mrs. Clinton was spreading about his chances in the general election. |

Thank you. I should have noticed:"doubts that" is not "doubt that". I misunderstood that "that clause" is appositive, but "that" is a relative pronoun.

| Ah, yes. A little tricky there. That refers to doubts and is part of the adjective phrase "Mrs. Clinton was trying to sow (that)." |
